Let's talk miracles

With Easter fast approaching, let’s talk miracles.
Yesterday, as Moss and I walked up the High Street of our home town, I spotted a friend of mine sitting in our local café quietly having a cup of coffee.
I popped in to say, “Hello” and Moss jumped up and embraced her.
Moss is the most expressive dog I’ve ever had, her favourite thing in all the world is people, she just loves them.
My friend Mary put her arm down and let Moss lick it, Moss is also an enthusiastic licker. This might not seem remarkable, nor a miracle, but it truly is.
Mary is in her mid-eighties, and from the age of seven until about eighty she was frightened of dogs, not just a little bit, truly scared.
As a child Mary took her little sister out for a walk, and sadly her sister got bitten by a black dog. This had a profound effect on Mary. Although her sister was the one who was physically injured, it was Mary who was emotionally scarred.
She didn’t get over it and carried her fear of dogs for decades.
That is until her daughter, who has some disabilities, obtained Meg a handsome Labradoodle Assistance dog. The two of them, dog and owner, got together when Meg was a small puppy, only ten weeks old.
This gave Mary the chance to get to know a puppy, as she says,
“Who could be scared of a tiny fluffy puppy?”
Happily, Mother, daughter and puppy spent a lot of time together. Even though Meg quickly grew into quite a large dog, Mary overcame her fear.
So that morning, when I saw Mary in the café and Moss jumped up, and Mary was genuinely fine, it was a miracle.
Miracles don’t have to be spectacular, they just need to be noticed.
Happy Easter.
