Wasabi in the washing machine

~ back to school ~

This morning as I opened the washing machine I found a small sachet of wasabi* lodged in the drum. It felt symbolic of life with a teenager, unpredictable yet sometimes amusing.
Today the Teenager starts college, I admit to feeling a sense of relief.
Moss and I spent the morning cleaning and sorting out the house. It felt like having a younger sibling at home whilst the older one was beginning something new - except Moss is a dog!
It wasn’t until the afternoon that Moss got her morning walk, but she’s quite used to that.
We walked along the river and came across some cattle grazing.
Moss watched them intently so I put her on the lead. I know she was desperate to herd them, which is her natural instinct as a Border Collie.
She’s triggered by her innate desire to control movement, which takes several different forms. She becomes intently focussed when I water the garden, hoover the house, or small children are running around.
Rather like the Teenager with her secret stash of wasabi, it’s the quirky stuff we need to work on.
Let’s hope that back to school offers an opportunity for a new era.
