It's my Birthday!

It’s my birthday, and it’s a big deal for me since I’ve joined Club Six Zero, as I prefer to call it. I’ve found it a tricky transition, so I’ve spoken with a wise friend of mine who has made some practical suggestions.
My internal pendulum has swung far and wide. One minute I’ve wanted to have a huge party, inviting everyone who has ever inspired me over the years, the list was long – hundreds! The next minute, everything was cancelled, I didn’t want to invite anyone at all – zippo!
What, you might ask, has this got to do with justwalkingthedog?
With guidance we’ve come to a good solution. A small party on my actual birthday, followed by meeting up with people I care about later in the year.
Moss, our Border collie, is on the invitation list, both the long one and the much much shorter one.
On Saturday afternoon we had a small bunch of mates round for a traditional tea party. Harry Husband made a distinctive Victoria sponge, the Teenager went to work, and we had some fun.
After a dodgy start to the party, Moss was so excited about the guests arriving that she jumped up incessantly, practically knocking a fragile friend of mine flying. She eventually calmed down and dealt brilliantly with having a SMALL party at home.
She’s definitely on the list of those who inspire me.
Happy Birthday to me!
