It’s 10am on Sunday morning, the church bells strike up to summon the faithful, Moss stands in the window, she throws her head back and howls like a wolf. She does the same on Wednesday evening at 8pm when the bell ringers have their weekly practice. Harry Husband, The Teenager and I find it amusing. We enjoy the profile she creates, you can see her inner wolf.

I have no idea why she does it, I assume it’s something to do with the pitch of the bells? I know that dogs can be sensitive to sound, and some of them enjoy a bit of a sing along. I would say it’s just a habit that she has developed.

Moss is now sixteen months old and has had her second season, she is beginning to settle down and find her role in life. Are the habits that she’s developing part of her finding her own identity, or am I being anthropomorphic?

Another of her habits is making a nest amongst the laundry. As I plonk it down beside the washing machine ready to load up, she hops in and snuggles down amid the homely smell of unwashed laundry. It’s rather sweet.

Oh yes, and she’s partial to sitting in the window watching the world go by. I’m so used to that, I barely even consider it to be a habit.

What habits does your dog have?

Let me know, leave your comments in ‘Contacts.’ I can’t wait to read them.
