Let’s admit it; many of us are a little bit loopy, especially when it comes to our dogs.

The other day I was in the dog park (a fenced in area specially for dogs and their owners) although it’s not our natural environment.  As a Border Collie, Moss’s instinct around other dogs, is to control their movement.

It’s not exactly the best way to make friends!

More truthfully, I was braving the dog park, and experimenting with being a normal dog owner.

It was going okay-ish … not brilliantly to be honest.

I was having a chat with a guy who I didn’t know; he seemed nice enough and interested in his dog’s welfare, which I find endearing.

Then he called over Reg, his lanky Labradoodle, and I overheard him saying,

“Okay Reg, this is your five-minute warning.”

It made me laugh.  It’s such a fine balance between being an informed dog owner and being overly anthropomorphic.

I record these little ditties when I’m out walking with Moss.  At the end of that particular recording, as I played it back, I distinctly heard myself saying.

“Are you okay sweetheart?” -  to Moss!

So, I guess I haven’t got a leg to stand on.

On reflection, perhaps the best thing is to be able to laugh at ourselves.
