After the storm

I’m pretty much programmed to walk every day whatever the weather. The other day we had some truly awful weather - it was bitterly cold, with driving rain and a ferocious easterly wind.
Moss didn't want to go out one bit, but we did, and we both got drenched.
As you might imagine, we weren't troubled with any company!
… and the next day
It was rather like breathing out after a shock.
There was water standing in places I’ve never seen it stand before.
There'd been a frost, but it's such a wet frost - and the sun was out.
I know us English are often teased for talking about the weather, but what weather we have … so let’s talk about it!
It was wet underfoot, but mild. The air was almost warm and also sodden.
The light was bright, yet it was misty …!
All sorts of contradictions.
A strange silence hung in the air, people were talking in whispers.
It was like the time after watching a really good film, in which you've been transported into another world.
You’ve watched the film; the credits have run and then you turn on the lights again. The room looks similar, but you feel different because of what you’ve experienced.
That’s how it feels today.
